Greetings American Legion member:The General George G. Meade Chapter of the Military Order of the World Wars cordially invites your chapter to participate in a Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony and the Twenty-Sixth Annual Massing of the Colors at the Fort Meade Pavilion, at 2:30 PM, on Sunday, May 6, 2012. The Massing of the Colors is a patriotic ceremony held to rededicate faith in the United States, and to demonstrate the Military Order of the World Wars’ support of our Armed Forces. It includes the colors and color guards of Active, Reserve, and National Guard military units; veteran, civic, and patriotic organizations; ROTC units; auxiliary organizations; state militias; first responder organizations; and Boy and Girl Scout organizations. These participants assemble, enmasse, under their own banners in a patriotic ceremony to provide a living tribute to our heritage and a memorial to all those who helped preserve it. It is a memorable event that symbolizes the ideals of patriotism and love of country, which your organization also honors. The ceremony will begin promptly at 2:30 PM. Colors Guards are to assemble by 1:30 PM in the designated assembly area at the Fort Meade Pavilion. Each Color Guard will be identified and announced as it marches forward.Family and friends are most welcome to attend the ceremony. Refreshments will be served immediately after the ceremony. Please respond to this email by April 30, 2012. This will greatly facilitate final planning. From Tom Gilman:
Here is the Annapolis Schedule as it stands at this time: February 1 at 3PM (Hearing on SB 28 Income Tax – Military Retirement Income)in the Senate Budget and Taxation Hearing Room February 8 at 1PM (Hearing on SB 11 State Lottery – Licenses – Veterans Organizations and SB 19 Sales and Use Tax – Exemption – Veterans’ Organizations. February 9 at noon ( Veterans’ Caucus) I will attend this one. February 16 at 10AM House Chambers for Fallen Hero’s Program We need maximum participation by all veterans’ for these programs. If we don’t show up to show our support for our bills it does not send a good message to our legislatures. So pass the word and see if we can’t get a least a couple hundred, Blue, White and Red Caps there. Hope to see you all in Annapolis. Please Contact Tom if you have any questions but more importantly attend and make a difference. |

ON 16 February 2011 the House of Representatives in Annapolis will hold its annual Fallen Hero’s Program. The House will go into session at 10AM with the Fallen Hero’s program to follow. I have been asked by our supporting Delegates to Please have a lot of Legion Caps in the Gallery that day. Pass the word and lets pack the House Gallery that morning. After all we keep asking them for support so let’s show support for their program. So pass the word along to everyone. Park at the stadium and catch the bus down to the state house. Once in the State House go to the 2nd floor to gain entrance to the gallery. Leave all knives, fingernail clippers and anything else that could be used as a weapon in your vehicle. If you have any of these items on you they will send you back to your vehicle with it. |
